About the Bee
Since a very young age, Shannon has had two main interests: wildlife and drawing. She spent her elementary school days drawing characters and animals for classmates; during summers, she roamed the sugar-sand trails of Archbold Biological Station in Central Florida, catching lizards and collecting bugs.
In 2012, Shannon became a SCAD Bee, choosing to study fine arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design. During her undergraduate years, her childhood interests became passionate subjects of her work as she focused on creating editorial pieces that expressed her concerns for environmental and animal welfare. By 2016, the Bee was a decorated collegiate swimmer for the NAIA Women’s division and graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Illustration and two minors - Scientific Illustration and Creative Writing.
After seven years of teaching visual arts in her hometown of Lake Placid, Florida, she practices illustration as a freelance artist and designer with a focus in art licensing, surface design, and tattoo designs.
In her spare time, the Bee continues exploring various media and new practices while studying psychology, graphic design, and portraiture.
